Some people who favour an academic and selective model of education have recently been saying that ‘the science of learning’ mandates or even requires such an approach. But this claim relies on a very narrow reading of the research.

Read more widely and you find, on the contrary, that a great deal of research in affective and social neuroscience, for example, supports a model of teaching that is much more holistic and diverse.

In this workshop, Guy explores the evidence gathered in his recent bestseller The Future of Teaching and the Myths that Hold It Back, and expands on an approach to teaching and learning that escapes from the false polarisation between ‘traditional’ and ‘progressive’.

21st century teaching embraces the best of both.
